Two Paddocks
Two Paddocks is a boutique winery established by Sam Neill in 1993. Located in Central Otago, New Zealand, the winery began with the purchase of a small vineyard in Gibbston and has since expanded to include four vineyards: The First Paddock, The Last Chance, The Fusilier, and The Red Bank.
Central Otago is renowned for its unique terroir and ideal conditions for growing Pinot Noir, which has become the flagship wine of Two Paddocks. The winery focuses on producing premium, organic wines with an emphasis on sustainability and quality.
Sam Neill's passion for viticulture and winemaking is obvious in the meticulous care and attention given to every aspect of the process. Two Paddocks adopts organic farming practices, ensuring that the vineyards are free from synthetic chemicals and pesticides. The winery's commitment to sustainability extends to its use of natural compost, careful water management, and biodiversity promotion within the vineyards. This approach not only enhances the health of the vines but also contributes to the distinct character and flavor profile of the wines produced.
The wines of Two Paddocks have gained international acclaim, particularly for their Pinot Noir, which consistently receives high ratings from critics and wine enthusiasts.
In addition to Pinot Noir, Two Paddocks produces small quantities of Riesling, crafted with the same dedication to quality and expression of the Central Otago terroir. With a limited production and focus on excellence, Two Paddocks has established itself as a respected name in the world of fine wines, reflecting Sam Neill's vision and commitment to producing exceptional wines from New Zealand's southernmost wine region.
