International Viognier Day 2024
This International Viognier Day celebrate with us and enjoy 10% off our selected range of Viognier wines. We're passionate about the full-bodied, textural and perfumed Viognier varietal and we think it's a great alternative to a glass of Chardonnay or Chenin. Pair it with delicate meat dishes or enjoy and savour a glass on its own. At our place we enjoy it with a Margarita pizza!
We think you’ll love these wines and we do too, so we’ve put an offer on for 10% off this range when you buy 6 or more! So get it before it's gone (offer automatically applied on checkout)
Viognier almost went extinct in the 1960s as its popularity dwindled and the challenging weather in northern Rhone made it a labour of love and an accountant's headache. At one point there was only 14 hectares of vines reportedly left in the world!
Thankfully, new world wineries began trialling Viognier and the Cote-Rotie method for co-fermenting Viognier with Syrah took off in far flung regions like Australia. Today wineries still enjoy the challenge of crafting a wine from this low yielding, high alcohol grape that demands dry and hot weather. This grape just wants to be baked in sunshine, hence our local plantings being in warmer regions like the Hawkes Bay and Waiheke!
Orders will be dispatched together after the end of the sale on 5th May 2024.
