Chard Farm
Chard Farm takes pride in being entirely estate-grown, drawing grapes from their diverse vineyards situated in the Gibbston, Lowburn, and Parkburn sub-regions of Central Otago.
Each vineyard holds its own distinct characteristics, contributing essential elements that enrich the intricate process of crafting the diverse range of wines.
Since 1986, Chard Farm has been a pioneering force in Central Otago. When people told him not to bother, Rob pushed on and planted a vineyard. Now, almost 40 years on - they continue to produce a diverse range of wines with a focus on small batch expressions of the land and terroir.
You'll find interesting varieties like a white pinot from their Rabbit Ranch series alongside stunning Riesling, Chardonnay and even a very southerly Sauvignon blanc. I haven't even touched on the range of Pinot Noir yet because their commitment to the varietal is obvious through the sheer number of different expressions.
Not many wineries will create such a diverse range of different wines using the same grape, because accountants hate it! What this does provide you is the opportunity to dive into subregion and truly understand the differences in place, positioning and climate that the winemaker is trying to express.
Don't just take our word for it, take a look at the wines below.
